A group of Japanese scientists at the Ehime University School of Medicine have recently shown that Razberi-K, a ketone found exclusively within red raspberries, can have some surprising effects on weight gain. Red raspberries have been used for centuries in traditional medicine to treat a variety of ailments and conditions, and are increasingly coming to the attention of the medical community.
Ketones have been referred to as “magic” by some in the medical community, in reference to their ability to increase metabolic efficiency and decrease the production of damaging free radicals within the body.
Reductions in body fat due to Razberi-K have been attributed to two different mechanisms. The first is the fruits ability to absorb dietary fats in a similar fashion to many of the fat blockers currently on the market.
The second is due to an increase of norepinephrine-induced lipolysis, which is most basically, the breakdown in the storage of fat cells, stimulated by release of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine.
